At the age of 2, my parents immigrated to the US from Europe seeking a better quality of life. My parents were blue collar workers who did not speak English but worked very hard, often 2 jobs. They paid for my education in private schools, so I can have the education and the opportunities they never did. Junior year of college, I studied abroad in Spain and during this time traveled throughout Europe. I graduated from DePaul University and the first person in my family to go to college. Upon my return, 6 months shy of graduation and out of 25 candidates, I was offered a staff accounting position at Ameritech (now AT&T). I negotiated for the company to pay the remainder of my tuition as part of the terms of my contract and a higher salary than what was initially offered. Walking out of the interview, I realized that I had pretty good negotiating skills. A year out of college my parents bought their first house and I negotiated the transaction with our broker on the purchase, being involved every step of the way. I remember her saying to me: if accounting doesn’t work out for you, I can see you being an agent one day.
I worked at Ameritech (now AT&T) for 7 years, earning recognitions and promotions along the way. Slowly, I became restless working on P&L statements, sitting in corporate meetings and staring at my PC most of the day, feeling unfulfilled. I decided that I wanted to explore another career path. I remembered what our broker told me and in college, a friend would tell me about her dad, his real estate adventures and how much fun he had. Before leaving Ameritech, I decided to obtain my real estate license and dabbled in real estate to see where it takes me. On weekdays, I was a financial analyst and in the weekday evenings and weekends, I worked as a real estate agent for friends and family. I did this for 1 year and decided to forge ahead in real estate sales full time and leave corporate America.
After a successful 3 1/2 years working for an independent real estate company, I joined RE/MAX in 2003 and have been blessed and enjoyed great success since. I learned so much along the way and met so many wonderful people, many who have become friends. I even set up a client on a blind date and they got married! I find it important not only to sell real estate but to also educate buyers and sellers; as I believe it is important for them to walk into a closing and feel confident about their transaction. It gives me so much joy to see the smiles on my clients’ faces when I hand them the keys to their new home or when I stop by to say hello and they tell me how happy they are in their new house! I pride myself on referrals and repeat business from my clients.
To past, present and future clients: Your trust, your business and your referrals are always greatly appreciated! Thank You!
